Opioids Hospitalized 1.27 Million Americans in One Year

Nearly 1.3 million Americans received hospital care for opioid-related illnesses in 2014, according to data from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The data shows a steep spike in inpatient care and emergency-room treatment since 2005. The report lists Maryland as the state with the most opioid-related hospital visits, with Massachusetts and the District of Columbia following in second and third.
