Oscars Had Most Viewers Since 2004

The Academy Awards completely killed it in the Nielsen ratings. With an estimated 43 million viewers, it was the most popular entertainment event since the “Friends” finale nearly a decade ago. The Ellen Degeneres-hosted Oscars was the third-most watched in a decade, and the third year in a row that viewership increased.
