A new era begins for Kyrygzstan: Ousted Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev resigned and left the country on Thursday. His departure is the result of negotiations between himself, the interim government, and international agencies and states, including the U.S. and Russia. More than 80 people were killed in the demonstrations last week that eventually led to Bakiev’s ouster. Several of his associates and relatives have since been brought up on criminal charges by the new government.
