Over 460 parents who were separated from their children during the Trump administration’s family separation policy have been deported, according to CNN. In court documents giving a status update on the family reunification process, the government disclosed that 463 parents were no longer in the United States. The Trump administration said number is still “under review” and stated that those deported parents “had the opportunity to bring their kid with them, but willingly left without them.” Attorneys for immigration advocates argue that the parents likely did not know what they were agreeing to and the government did not say how it would track down parents to confirm they wanted to leave their children in the United States. In the update, the government also said 879 families have been reunited and another 538 parents are waiting for transportation for reunification.
