Police have made multiple arrests after at least 76 people overdosed in one day on synthetic cannabis in New Haven, Connecticut. Around 25 people collapsed on the New Haven Green in a span of three-and-a-half hours Wednesday morning, authorities said. By 10 p.m., first responders had been called to at least 76 suspected overdoses—the majority of which occurred at or near the same park. Fire officials said the first calls Wednesday morning began coming in around 7:30 a.m., and at 9:30 a.m. the situation started to escalate. Some of the people were unconscious—others were vomiting or exhibiting other overdose symptoms. Around 70 people suffering from apparent overdoses were transported to local hospitals; five others refused medical attention. Police believe all the overdoses are from K-2, also known as synthetic marijuana.
