In a fraught contest decided by a controversial decision, boxing star Manny Pacquiao hung on to his welterweight championship against Juan Manuel Marquez. Two of the judges closely called it for Pacquiao and third called it a draw, allowing Pacquiao to barely eke out the win. But the crowd of 16,000 at MGM Grand jeered at the ruling; Marquez had already been celebrating his expected win. “I clearly won the fight,” insisted Pacquiao, who earned $22 million off the evening as well. Most writers covering the event had called it for Marquez.
