Pakistani police officials say a suicide attack that killed more than 80 paramilitary cadets Friday was most likely retaliation for an army offensive in Pakistan’s tribal areas—not the killing of Osama bin Laden. Though the Pakistani Taliban claimed the attacks were retaliation for bin Laden's death, Pakistani cops say the terror group has recently claimed responsibility for several attacks they did not commit. They say the attack was most likely carried out by a splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban that has been fighting the army in the tribal region of Mohmand, where the army has been trying to subdue insurgents.
