Pakistan Cop Chops Up Man for Blasphemy

SERIOUSLY?

In jail.

A man taken into police custody in the city of Gujrat, Pakistan, was hacked to death by a police officer for allegedly making derogatory remarks about the companions of the Prophet Muhammad. The murder comes just two days after a Christian couple was beaten to death and then burned in a kiln for blasphemy in the same province. In this case, a man named Tufail Haider, 55, was arrested after a group of people accused him of making blasphemous remarks. “Officer Faraz Naveed brought him to the police station and sent him to lockup. Haider did not stop using nasty words about Sahaba [a religious figure] despite warnings from various officials,” said police officer Khurram Shehzad. “At around 5 a.m., Naveed could not control his emotions. He went into his cell, brought an axe, entered the lockup and hit Haider’s throat several times.”
