Extremists from Pakistan’s Sunni Muslim majority carried out a bomb attack in Quetta on Saturday that killed at least 64 people, including schoolchildren. A spokesman for the Sunni group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claimed responsibiity for the bomb, which caused casualties in the town's main bazaar, a school, and a computer center. Police said the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device fitted to a motorcycle. Most of the victims were Shi'ites. Lashkar-e-Jhangvi also bombed the town last month, killing nearly 100 people in one of Pakistan's worst sectarian attacks.
