Tuesday’s Nebraska Senate primary sees Republican state Sen. Deb Fischer—backed by Sarah Palin—up against state Attorney General Jon Bruning—supported by South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint—for the open seat. After months of trailing Bruning, Fischer is now seeing a last-minute surge. An independent poll released Monday found Fischer in first place with 39 percent over Bruning with 34 percent. “Nebraska’s got a pretty good record of supporting underdogs,” said Fischer.
