This has not been a good week for Republican presidential hopefuls. Sarah Palin announced Wednesday that she would not be seeking the Republican nomination for president, ending months of speculation. “When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country,” Palin said in a letter to her supporters. “My decision maintains this order.” In a statement Todd Palin released to The Daily Beast, the former Alaska governor wrote: "I know that I can be on the right path, not for president this time. We'll see what the future holds, in terms of me and my political career." Palin did not specifically mention any future plans, but she told conservative talk-radio host Mark Levin that she would not run as a third-party candidate because that would "guarantee Obama's reelection." Palin will appear on Fox News Wednesday night. Meanwhile, the Republican Party said its crop of candidates for 2012 has been set—and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said he would not take the vice presidency if asked.
