Pao Loses Gender Discrimination Suit

On Friday, San Francisco’s superior court ruled that all claims filed against prominent venture capitalist firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers by former employee Ellen Pao were not valid. According to the New York Times, Pao, who is now the chief of social media for Reddit, claimed that the firm “did not promote her because of her gender; that it retaliated against her for complaining; that is failed to prevent gender discrimination; and that ultimately it fired her in 2012 for complaining.” She was asking for $16 million in damages and missed opportunities.
