The sole surviving suspect of the 2015 Paris terror attacks has been found guilty of terrorism-related attempted murder over his involvement in a police shootout in Brussels in 2016 days before his capture. Salah Abdeslam, who's still awaiting trial for his suspected role in the Paris attacks of November 2015 which killed 130 people, was found guilty for his involvement in a shootout with police in Brussels ahead of his capture in 2016, and has been sentenced to 20 years in jail. A court in the Belgian capital said “there can be no doubt” about Salah Abdeslam and his co-defendant Sofiane Ayari’s involvement in extremism. Four police officers were wounded in the gun battle after police received a tip-off over the Paris attacks and raided a flat in the Forest area of Brussels on 15 March 2016. Abdeslam was arrested three days later. He remains in jail in France awaiting a separate trial over the 2015 Paris attacks.
