New York Gov. David Paterson said that moving the Park51 project—aka the “ground zero mosque”—to a new spot would be a “noble gesture” and a “magic moment in our history” on Larry King Live Wednesday night. Paterson said the compromise would help other Americans understand Islam. President Obama is not backing down from his statements on the issue, despite the polls showing voters heavily against his position (37 percent disapprove of the president’s comments in support of Muslims’ right to build a community center there, and 20 percent approve). “The answer is: No regrets,” Obama said.
