‘LOVE AND SUPPORT’

This will come as a shock, but an act of pure kindness has happened on Twitter. After comedian Patton Oswalt posted about Donald Trump’s border-wall plans, Republican-supporter Michael Beatty responded to say: “I just realized why I was so happy you died in Blade Trinity!” Oswalt initially hit back to say: “I get told this at least twice a week by Trump supporters. It always makes me smile and I’m grateful and blessed.” But, after looking at Beatty’s profile, he saw that Beatty was a Vietnam vet struggling to pay medical bills for sepsis and diabetic ketoacidosis. With a link to Beatty’s crowd-funder site, Oswalt tweeted: “This dude just attacked me on Twitter and I joked back but then I looked at his timeline and he’s in a LOT of trouble health-wise. I’d be pissed off too. He’s been dealt some shitty cards—let’s deal him some good ones.” The crowd-funder has since been flooded with donations, and now stands at more than $28,000. Beatty responded: “I want to thank everyone who came to my aid with generous outpourings—and also to @pattonoswalt without whom I would not be the recipient of so much love and support.”
