House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) supports the release of the Democrats’ counter-memo to the controversial GOP-drafted memo alleging surveillance abuses at the FBI and the Department of Justice. “The speaker is in favor of greater transparency,” said Ryan’s spokeswoman. “If it is scrubbed to ensure it does not reveal sources and methods of our intelligence gathering, the speaker supports the release of the Democrats' memo.” This comes after Ryan insisted that the memo’s release would “not impugn” Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein Thursday afternoon. On Monday, the House Intelligence Committee voted to release the Republican-authored memo, but voted not to release the Democratic one.
