Not all animal runaways end up in desperate situations. A peacock escaped from the Central Park Zoo Tuesday, and has been spending the rest of the afternoon perched on the fourth floor of a multimillion-dollar apartment building at 838 Fifth Avenue. Zoo officials were on the scene to monitor the situation, and they said they hoped the bird would fly back to the zoo on its own. They said the peacock posed no danger to anyone, and police left the scene by 4 p.m. Like the cobra who escaped from the Bronx Zoo earlier this year, the peacock has become a Twitter sensation, with a Twitter account set up as @BirdOnTheTown and other users sending in updates using the hashtag peacock.
