Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence falsely said on Sunday morning that the Donald J. Trump Foundation has answered questions surrounding reports that its funds were used for settling lawsuits involving the GOP presidential nominee. The Indiana governor said the Washington Post's reporting on the foundation has been “very, very sketchy” and “factually incorrect,” but did not provide specifics.
Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace pushed back, telling Pence that neither the campaign nor the foundation has answered questions about how the charity ended up funding a legal settlement involving Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, or why Trump himself has not contributed to his own foundation since 2008.
“These answers are all fair game, Chris. I just wish there was as much interest in the activities of the Clinton Foundation, that we know accepted tens of millions of dollars from foreign countries and foreign donors who were then given access to Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state,” Pence said.
