Can Congress actually get something done during the lame-duck session? The Pentagon has ordered the release of its big Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell report—which is expected to show a repeal of the policy will have little effect on armed forces—on November 30, a day earlier than expected. Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ hope is that it will allow the Senate Armed Services Committee to hold hearings on the policy that same week, and hopefully to have the Senate vote on it before the holidays.
