Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced Tuesday that the Pentagon will be starting a 90-day review of the Department of Defense’s health-care system after allegations of misconduct at Veterans Affairs hospitals. The military system, which is separate from the Department of Veterans Affairs, serves roughly 10 million people a year, compared to the VA’s 8.3 million veterans per year. The VA’s Office of the Inspector General is investigating 26 VA facilities as VA Secretary Eric Shinseki faces calls for his resignation.
