Two U.S. service members were killed Wednesday in a blast in southern Afghanistan, the Pentagon said. While U.S. military officials on the ground in Afghanistan have refused to give any information on the attack, Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said the two were killed after a suicide bombing of a NATO convoy near Kandahar city, the Associated Press reported. The service members’ identities have not yet been revealed, but they were said to have belonged to a unit within NATO’s Resolute Support mission. In its statement claiming responsibility for the attack, the Taliban claimed to have killed 15 soldiers.
