Pentagon: U.S.-Led Coalition Struck Pro-Assad Forces

The U.S.-led coalition fighting ISIS struck pro-Assad forces in Syria, the Pentagon announced Tuesday. According to a statement, forces supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad—reportedly including a tank, artillery, anti-aircraft weapons, and more than 60 soldiers—ignored coalition warnings upon entering an area near the U.S.-led forces’ base in southern Syria. A similar attack on pro-government forces occurred in mid-May.
