Pentagon's James Clapper the Next Intel Director?

Position earning rep as Washington's worst job.

Washington is hoping that the fourth time’s the charm for the recently vacated Director of National Intelligence position, and attention has turned to top candidate James R. Clapper, the Pentagon’s highest ranking intelligence official. Three people have now left the position, each describing the job description as “flawed,” according to the Associated Press. The position was created after the 9/11 attacks, and it requires the supervision of 16 separate intelligence agencies. “We created a Washington-centric solution to a problem that is global and networked,” said a former CIA officer of its drawbacks.
