What will taxpayers in Texas have to say about this? GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry is collecting a $7,798 monthly pension from the state of Texas so long as he serves as governor, he disclosed in a federal filing on Friday. A spokesman for Perry’s campaign said state law permits workers to collect retirement pension in addition to their salary if the sum of their years of service for the state, the military, and their age adds up to more than 80. Perry’s numbers apparently add up. The Republican hopeful also disclosed that he is worth up to $2.4 million, including $500,000 in a trust. The contents of the trust are suspiciously not listed on the form, but Perry attached a document he had filed with the Texas Ethics Commission showing he terminated a blind trust in August.
