PETA Slams Biden’s Hot Dog Giveaway

Although the more obvious source of PETA’s anger would be Lady Gaga’s meat dress, the animal-rights group has another target: the vice president of the United States. PETA criticized Joe Biden’s recent hot dog giveaway on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, highlighting the high fat volume in the meat. “You can’t expect troops to be lean, mean fighting machines if you’re stuffing them with fattening, artery-clogging meat, eggs, and dairy products every day,” said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. PETA distributed a news release suggesting Biden instead hand out veggie dogs or vegan food. Biden acted as hot dog vendor to troops who had recently returned from Iraq for the September 8 episode of The Colbert Report.
