A judge handed Drew Peterson a sentence of 38 years in prison on Thursday. The four years Peterson has already served in custody will, however, count as part of his sentence. The former Chicago-area police sergeant was convicted in September of the murder of his third ex-wife, Kathleen Savio, but requested a new trial. The judge denied that request before giving Peterson his sentence. The defendant's lawyers promised to continue the fight for an appeal, insisting, “Wouldn’t you be angry if you were wrongly convicted?”
