The overall Afghanistan strategy may not be changing under General David Petraeus, but that doesn’t mean he won’t tweak its particulars: Military sources tell Fox News that Petraeus’ first action as the commander of the war in Afghanistan will be to change the rules of engagement to make it easier for U.S. soldiers to engage in combat. Stanley McChrystal came under fire from his own troops for setting rules of engagement that were too strict—some troops complained that their lives were being endangered by rules that were meant to protect civilians. Fox News says to expect an official announcement next week.
