Bryan Colangelo, the Philadelphia 76ers’ general manager and president of operations, on Thursday resigned amid a scandal in which he allegedly used fake social-media accounts to smear players on the team. His exit was expedited by sports website The Ringer’s reporting on five Twitter accounts—one of which Colangelo acknowledged having used—that anonymously trashed Philly players, the team’s ex-GM, and other Colangelo rivals. The Sixers said that Colangelo offered his resignation while “recognizing the detrimental impact this matter had on the organization.” Managing partner Josh Harris further torched Colangelo in the statement: “It has become clear Bryan’s relationship with our team and his ability to lead the 76ers moving forward has been compromised.”
