Philadelphia organized-crime leader Joseph Ligambi, the “boss” of La Cosa Nostra, was arrested Monday by the FBI and charged with extortion and witness tampering. Ten others, including “underboss” Joseph Massamino, were arrested and indicted on some 50 counts, including loan sharking and gambling. The suspects followed “all the hallmarks of organized-crime activity,” said Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer. Monday’s arrests follow the arrest of 126 La Cosa Nostra members in January.
