Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s crackdown on drugs is “out of control,” according to a human rights lawyer and members of the country’s political opposition. The move comes after the government said it killed more than 100 drug suspects. “President Duterte’s war on crime has spawned a nuclear explosion of violence that is spiraling out of control and creating a nation without judges, without law and without reason,” said Manuel Diokno of the Free Legal Assistance Group. Duterte has said the drug war is one of his top priorities, and also insinuated that he would order killings of journalists.
