The disturbing story of four mentally disabled people found locked up in a Philadelphia boiler room, their Social Security checks being used by their kidnappers, continues to develop. Police believe the suspects may have been holding seven others: the 19-year-old niece of the supposed ringleader and six children whom were in her custody. Philadelphia police discovered the 19-year-old in the same building in which the original four were being held captive. She was locked in a closet and had been visibly beaten. Philadelphia’s Mayor Michael Nutter said of the situation, “I’m not sure horrific covers it. This is sheer madness.”
