A pilot for Southwest Airlines was not free to move about the country this spring—at least not in the cockpit of the airline’s planes. The pilot, who hasn’t been identified, didn’t realize his microphone was on when he was overheard by air-traffic controllers complaining about flight attendants, whom he labeled "a continuous stream of gays and grannies and grandes." Southwest said the incident occurred in March and that he has since been reinstated after undergoing diversity training.
