Passengers on a Southwest Airlines flight panicked after mishearing an announcement by the plane’s pilot. While wishing an air-traffic controller’s mother a happy birthday, the pilot of a domestic flight from Baltimore to Long Island said that there was a “mom on board,” resulting in complaints by two passengers after the flight landed. “He did clarify with the passengers that he was wishing the mother on board a happy birthday,” a spokeswoman for Southwest Airlines told reporters. The Federal Aviation Administration is reportedly not investigating the pilot.
