Pistorius Mourns Lover He Shot

On the one-year anniversary of shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, Oscar Pistorius commented publicly about her death on his website. The South African Olympian who won hearts for his Paralympic transition says he shot Steenkamp by mistake when he thought she was an intruder. “No words can adequately capture my feelings about the devastating accident that has caused such heartache for everyone who truly loved— and continues to love— Reeva,” he wrote. “The loss of Reeva and the complete trauma of that day, I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Oscar.” The trial against Pistorius begins in March. If convicted, he could spend his life in jail.
