The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh reported a sexual misconduct allegation against a deceased former Pittsburgh and Greensburg bishop to the Allegheny County district attorney’s office, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. The allegation that Bishop Anthony Bosco “touched” a nursing student while serving as chaplain and instructor at the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing dates back to the late 1960s. Bosco died in 2013, and the allegation is allegedly his “first and only” while he worked in the church. The report comes days after the diocese placed three priests on leave pending investigations into newly surfaced complaints about their alleged past abuse. Last month, a grand jury reported that more than 300 Catholic priests had abused about 1,000 children across six dioceses in Pennsylvania since the 1940s.
