It seems the only thing keeping the publishing industry on life support these days is Obama-related material. Obama's campaign manager, David Plouffe, is the latest to capitalize on the frenzy, having just signed a seven-figure book deal with Viking Press. The book, set for release next fall, is entitled The Audacity to Win: The Inside Story and Lessons of Barack Obama's Historic Victory, and will presumably offer a first-hand account of the 2008 presidential campaign. According to a Viking press release, Plouffe's work will shed light on "the deliberations about whether to run against long odds, the epic primary battle with Hillary Clinton, the drama of the general election campaign against John McCain and the strategic roads taken and not taken."
