U.S. Park police arrested more than two dozen protesters participating in Occupy D.C. protests in McPherson Square in the nation's capital Sunday after the protesters refused to dismantle a wooden building they had constructed in the public square. Police warned protesters that they had an hour to begin tearing it down, then began making arrests around 2 p.m. The arrests happened peacefully, with police cuffing demonstrators who sat inside the structure and leading them to nearby law enforcement vehicles. The conflict seemed to be over the plywood shelter, as the police have left the group’s tent city alone for weeks.
