Police Officer Who Shot Alton Sterling Has Been Fired, New Body Cam Footage Released

Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul announced on Friday evening that Officer Blane Salamoni, who shot and killed Alton Sterling outside of a convenience store in 2016, has been fired. The other officer on the scene, Howie Lake II, was suspended just three days. In addition, a series of videos were released on Friday and obtained by The Advocate, that show the confrontation in more graphic detail. State authorities had announced earlier this week that Salamoni and Lake, the other officer on the scene would not face charges.
