A 13-year-old boy holding a BB gun was shot and killed by police on Wednesday night in Columbus, Ohio, authorities said. Officers were responding to an armed robbery report, after a victim allegedly called 911 and said a group of people approached him with a gun and demanded money. Police reportedly approached three men matching the descriptions of the suspects, but two of them ran. “Officers followed the males to the alley... and attempted to take them into custody when one suspect pulled a gun from his waistband,” police said Thursday. “One officer shot and struck the suspect multiple times.” Tyree King was taken to a children’s hospital after he was shot. The gun turned out to be a BB gun with an attached “laser sight,” according to the AP. The officer who shot King was identified on Thursday as 9-year veteran Brian Mason.
