An Oregon county prosecutor on Tuesday said the police shooting of Robert “LaVoy” Finicum, one of the armed protesters who occupied an Oregon national wildlife refuge earlier this year, was justified. However, federal authorities have launched an investigation into FBI agents who did not disclose that they also fired shots during the incident. Finicum was killed Jan. 26 when authorities tried to apprehend him at a police blockade near Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Malheur County District Attorney Dan Norris said eight shots were fired at Finicum, six of them by state police and two by FBI agents. Norris said the six shots by the state police were “justified and in fact necessary.”
