Police say a teenage mother in New Jersey smothered her baby just moments after it was born and the father later disposed of the body. The mother, Jada McClain, 18, is charged with first-degree murder, and the father, Quaimere Mohammed, 19, is charged with second-degree disturbing or desecrating remains. McClain reportedly hid her pregnancy from her parents, and told friends she was drinking, smoking weed, and taking pills in an attempt to terminate the pregnancy, according to the police affidavit. McClain allegedly told police that she and the father decided she would kill the baby several days before she gave birth. Mohammed said “they have to do what’s best for them,” according to the affidavit.
