Florida police say that video footage shows that tennis superstar Venus Williams legally entered an intersection in Fort Lauderdale before being cut off by another car, leading to a crash with a third car that resulted in the death of a 78-year-old man. According to ESPN, the footage, taken by a security camera, shows Williams’ car being forced to stop when the driver of another car enters the intersection, after which her car was struck by a sedan driven by Linda Barson. Barson’s husband, Jerome Barson, died on June 22 from injuries sustained in the crash. The footage has prompted Fort Lauderdale police to rescind their original conclusion that Williams, who has not been cited or charged in relation to the incident, had been at fault in the crash.
