A policewoman is credited with stopping the truck attack in Nice, France, by jumping in front of the 19-ton vehicle. Police then opened fire, killing French-Tunisian delivery driver Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel. Éric Ciotti, a lawyer for the department of Alpes-Maritimes, said the person showed “extraordinary courage,” adding: “It was at that moment that the police were able to stop the terrorist.” The driver in the cab of the truck attempted to shoot the unnamed policewoman and the surrounding officers but missed. “I will never forget the look of the policewoman who intercepted the killer,” Ciotti said.
