Poll: Americans Fed Up On Immigration

Frustrated

Issue could be potent in midterms.

A new Pew Research Center survey shows Americans, both Republicans and Democrats, are unhappy with their party's handling of immigration, as well as other issues. In the poll, conducted September 2-9, only 37 percent of Republicans and those who lean toward that party think the GOP is doing a good job representing their views on illegal immigration; 56 percent said it was not doing a good job. Fewer than half of Democrats, 47 percent, believe their party is doing a good job on the matter, with disappointment higher among Latino Democrats. The results suggest the issue may be a potent one in next month's midterm elections.
