Maybe it’s that they prefer making their own beer and soap to buying it? Whatever the reason, something about hipsters seriously irks Americans, according to a new national survey. Public Policy Polling has found that 42 percent of Americans—particularly those over the age of 65—are sick of their shenanigans, while only 16 percent of those surveyed like them and 43 percent were indifferent. Shockingly, Republicans have the least favorable view of this subculture of our population, with 98 percent saying they’d be less likely to vote a hipster into political office. A whopping 46 percent of voters vilified the existence of hipsters as people who “soullessly appropriate cultural tropes from the past for their own ironic amusement.” They’ll always have Brooklyn.
