Poll: Americans Want U.S. to Attack ISIS

Support Obama's request to Congress.

The majority of Americans are unhappy with how President Obama has handled fighting ISIS, but 78 percent believe Congress should authorize the formal war action he requested. According to a new poll by CNN, the public increasingly believes the fight against extremists in the Middle East is going poorly—that number is up to 57 percent from 49 percent in September. Americans also are beginning to adopt the idea of sending ground troops to fight the terrorists, with 47 percent in support.
