Pope Apologizes for Abuse in U.K.

Expresses "deep sorrow" for "unspeakable crimes."

Now just repeat it a few hundred more times and we may start to get somewhere: "I express my deep sorrow to the innocent victims of these unspeakable crimes, along with my hope that the power of Christ's grace, his sacrifice of reconciliation, will bring deep healing and peace to their lives," Pope Benedict XVI said on Saturday, the third day of his trip to Britain. "I also acknowledge, with you, the shame and humiliation which all of us have suffered because of these sins." The Telegraph calls the speech “his strongest apology yet on the issue of clerical abuse.” On Friday, six people were arrested in an alleged terrorist plot against Benedict.
