Pope Francis called for swift and sweeping action on climate change in an encyclical released Thursday. Called “Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home,” the 184-page document frames climate change as an issue of social justice and says that those being most affected are the world’s poor. “Climate change is a global problem with grave implications: environmental, social, economic, political and for the distribution of goods,” he wrote. “It represents one of the principal challenges facing humanity in our day.”
