Millions of American are hoping to get rich quick—very rich … very quick. The Powerball lottery jackpot surged to a new record of $600 million Friday, causing a buying frenzy among Americans with dollar signs in their eyes. Tickets are being sold at a rate of more than 6,000 per minute, despite the odds of winning being a paltry 1 in 175 million. The previous jackpot record of $587 million was set in November.
