Princess Bride star Cary Elwes has reportedly turned to police after realizing items worth about $100,000 had been stolen from his home. According to TMZ, the actor reported art, cash, and jewelry missing from his home in Malibu, though the theft is not thought to have been a smash-and-grab. Instead, sources told TMZ, police think it may have been an inside job, and it may have been going on for years. Some of the thefts are thought to have gone entirely unnoticed until Elwes realized a lot of things had magically disappeared and he immediately alerted authorities. It was not clear what finally tipped him off to the thefts. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is now reportedly investigating the apparently stolen items, with members of Elwes’ home staff under scrutiny. Most well-known as Westley in 1987’s The Princess Bride, Elwes more recently played the shady mayor of Hawkins in Season 3 of Netflix’s Stranger Things.
